kumquats.
seitan.
red onion.
ginger.

a blend of coconut and sesame oil.

roast at 375 for ?? minutes (i believe in the magic of julia child, who said that when you can smell it, it's probably done)

you'll wanna turn that before the minutes are up.

dress with wasabi and really good shoyu (soy sauce). serve over a bed of chopped napa cabbage.

this may turn out awesome, and it may turn out terrible. cooking is my favorite adventure.

ETA: OMG SO GOOD.

hearts.

raw. napa is really light, so it wilts with the heat of the other stuff. i also added some frozen peas to the mix at the end, and a dash of lime juice.

i think next time i will cut the kumquats into slightly smaller bits, not just halves. they are a little overpowering.

oh, and very important: toasted sesame seeds added just at the end. really made a difference. yum yum.

I had a kumquat tonight for the very first time. I am so excited to now know about them. Your food sounds excellent.

I love kumquats so, so much. And I miss being an adventurous cook; damn being busy (I almost wrote "busty", which is also true) and complacent!
